Recommendations about SpamAssassin

Link SpamAssassins default prefs file to MailScanner's

Why? I did it because i find it easier to have all my custom settings in one place, and i am too lazy to include the path in my lint test, so with these changes spamassassin -D –lint uses your spam.assassin.prefs file.

  1. Make sure /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf has no entries in it, then mv /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf /etc/mail/spamassassin/local-old.cf
  2. Link MailScanners spam.assassin.prefs to spamassassin ln -s /etc/MailScanner/spam.assassin.prefs /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf

A similar default now exists in Version 4.48.4-2 (December 2005) and Versions after this, except /etc/mail/spamassassin/mailscanner links to spam.assassin.prefs so this set is now redundant.

  1. See getting_the_best_out_of_spamassassin for some tips on tuning SA
