    • Hey Julian we spoke once on the phone about you giving a talk on open source at one of our meetings. I’m Ryan Bingham from AACRAO - wwww.aacrao.org. I’d be willing to put you up at one of the nicer hotels here in DC for a day or two if you are passing through. I’d also be interested in meeting Steve. The company I used to work for uses him for consulting. My email is ryanb@aacrao.org. Hope you have a fun trip!
  • New York
  • Virginia - Very nice all summer but quite warm July through August time frame.

5 hours from DC.

1 hour from Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown if you are into history.
1 hour from Busch Gardens, 2 hours from Kings Dominion. If you like parks.
Beaches with lots of eye candy. :)
Great Steak and Sea Food Restaurants.
  • Boston

Unless Julian’s a real winter enthusiast (I’m not), late spring through early

autumn is the best time to visit us here in Boston. If I might suggest, since this
might likely be the beginning of the North American part of the tour, late spring/early
    summer would probably work best.
I think that "home base" for Julian's stay in Boston will be the city itself,
rather than my place, which is in a boring northern suburb about 25 mi. (~40 km.) away.
Work is about 20 mi. (~32 km.) south of Boston, so that isn't ideal, either. My company
will gladly pay for hotel accomodations in Boston.
Now, depending upon arrival time, I would hope that other Boston-area MailScanner
users would join me for a little reception for Julian straight away.
Next, some sight-seeing. Lots of choices, including the North End (central part
of Colonial Boston), the Back Bay (Newbury St.), Boston Common/Public Garden.
Then, perhaps, a visit to a couple of sites where MailScanner is being used.
Once again, my company would be happy to be a host. I wouldn't want to mix heavy business
with pleasure, but Julian might like to see some places where his baby is being used.
Julian, you're welcome here for as long as you wish. Once you've had your fill, I'm sure my
neighbors in Maine would be waiting for you with open arms.
I invite other Boston-area MS users to add their suggestions.
  • Niagara Falls (also on Canadian side) + Niagara river (good wine)
  • Elsewhere?
